Debbie Newell, owner.

It was 1936, with an operating budget of $6.00, which Adelaide Phillips used to open a small flower stand on a lot she purchased along highway 101 in Encinitas, California. Flowers by Adelaide was born and it was a single person operation until her son, Harry Jr., built a structure that was to become her first full service flower shop in 1945. It was Adelaide's love of flowers and a strong will to succeed in business that blossomed into a passion that would cover three generations.

After working as a partner with Adelaide for over three decades, Harry did a buyout in 1974 and became sole owner. Adelaide and Harry shared the same passion for the industry and business and he was determined to grow Adelaide's to be the premier floral shop in Southern California. Harry passed away in 2009 and his daughter Gina is at the helm filling his footsteps.

Adelaide started a legacy back in 1936, and her son Harry took that legacy, built a strong team of people which along with his daughter Gina, turned Adelaide's in to what it is today. Three generations of delivering emotions of the heart.

Our shop is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
We are closed on Sundays.

Adelaide's Florist and Decorators holiday hours: To help assure on-time delivery during the busy holiday season, place your order at least 1 day prior to the following major holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Administrative Professionals Week, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

Our shop will always be closed on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

During the month of December, our hours are 8:30 am - 6:00 pm Monday - Friday and 8:30 am - 5:30 pm on Saturday.  We are also open on Sundays during the month of December.  Check the store for our hours.

Adelaide’s Florists & Decorators is a full service florist offering same day flower delivery to the following communities in the La Jolla/ San Diego area, Bonita, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, Spring Valley, Cardiff by the Sea, Carlsbad, Del Mar, El Cajon, Encinitas, Escondido, Lakeside, Oceanside, Poway, Rancho Santa Fe, Santee, Solana Beach, San Marcos, Vista, UCSD, Golden Hills, North Park, Mission Hills, Hillcrest, Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Valley, Loma Portal, Old Town, Linda Vista, Encanto, Pacific Beach, Clairemont, Kensington, Coronado, San Carlos, Del Cerro, Mission Gorge, Sorrento Valley, University City, Serra Mesa, Kearny Mesa, Tierrasanta, Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, and Scripps Ranch.

A local delivery fee of $10.00 will be added to each order, for each address. (For deliveries outside our local delivery area, fees range from $11-$25.)

U.S. orders must be received before 10:00 a.m. in the recipient's time zone to assure same-day delivery. Orders received after that time will be delivered the following day.

We will do our best to accommodate deliveries at specific times of day, but we cannot guarantee it.

We are unable to make deliveries on Sundays. Deliveries requested on this day will be delivered the following business day.

Delivery of orders to rural route addresses or cemeteries cannot be guaranteed.

We will be happy to accept your international orders if you call our shop directly. We are unable to accept international orders over the Internet.

Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
